These 2D wall-hangings are called the Meme series, meme meaning 'thought DNA, an image bank of concepts grasped by everyone as if by intuition' (quote from Lloyd Dykk). They are a series of almost abstract images of West Coast seascape colours, textures and patterns. The pieces represent my investigation into the feel and essence of this place. I ask myself the question,"how abstract and non-representational can I go, and still evoke the essence of this place?" In exploring the answer to this question, I distill and pare down my responses further and further.
